We should all be proud of Chong Wei
ALTHOUGH he failed to win a much-hoped-for Olympic gold medal for Malaysia, badminton idol Lee Chong Wei has done Malaysia proud by securing a silver in the Olympic badminton men’s singles in Beijing. The very fact that Chong Wei has made his way to the finals by defeating his Indonesian and Korean challengers is indeed highly commendable and it has fired up the spirit and imagination of his badminton fans in particular and Malaysians in general.
Considering the fact that he had defeated top seed Lin Dan before it was not impossible that Chong Wei could have made history for Malaysia.
I agree that it was not his day despite the fact that he was so determined before the final to win a first-ever Olympic gold for Malaysia. No one should fault him for he had given his best for Malaysia, although he may wish to analyse the causes of his defeat to Lin Dan.His defeat by the Chinese top seed will, I am sure, not deter him from striving harder to win more accolades and honour for Malaysia.
